Blockchain infrastructure specialist Crossmint, has teamed up with artèQ to launch a Tintin NFT collection. The partnership also includes Tintinimaginatio, a newly established company meant to protect and promote the Tintin legacy.
Dubbed “The Blue Lotus,” this collection is an illustration of the original work created by Hergé in 1936, which was sold for $2.8 million through an auction two years ago. The collection features two different sets of NFTs. The first is a limited-edition print work of which only 777 copies exist, and the other is a set of limited-edition digital-only artworks of which only 1,777 pieces are on offer.
According to the press release, each NFT boasts unique traits that tell the Tintin story. For instance, the geographic locations to which the character has traveled, and so on. By purchasing the NFTs, each holder unlocks various perks, such as an exclusive pass to the Hergé museum and early access to new versions of “The Blue Lotus” book before it is published. In addition, they receive a digital brochure of Hergé’s work that has been created by Philippe Goddin, a well-known Hergéologist.
How to Get Hold of the Tintin NFTs
Fans of Tintin can jump on the official website dubbed Digital Tintin to snap up these blockchain-backed collectibles. Thanks to Crossmint’s proprietary technology, purchases can be made using a credit card directly without the need for cryptocurrencies, representing a move that is geared towards onboarding non-crypto natives to Web3.
Commenting on the partnership and launch of the NFTs, Rodri Fernandez Touza, cofounder of Crossmint, notes, “We are honored to be able to fuel such a celebrated and historic art series alongside Tintinimaginatio and arteQ, helping bridge the gap from the traditional art world into the Web3 era through an easy-to-use checkout solution.”
Farbond Sadeghian, CEO of artèQ, is equally excited by this partnership. In a statement, he notes, “This partnership allows fans a unique opportunity to own a rare piece of Tintin history in the form of an NFT. Each NFT comes with its own utilities and is a truly one-of-a-kind collectible.”
