Following a short delay, Yuga Labs has finally revealed it’s hotly anticipated HV-MTL (Heavy Metal) Evo1 NFTs. However, against the normal tide of the NFT big hitter, much of the community has been left underwhelmed by the project.
Back in January, Yuga’s flagship project, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) launched a mini game that saw competitors zoom through the sewers in search of a golden key lodged up a monkey’s anus. Despite only having one winner, Dookey Dash saw its 30k participants all receive a ‘Power Source’ NFT. Now however, as May 17 brought life to a fresh new day, these power source NFTs opened up to reveal the shiny new designs inside.
What awaited eager collectors was an HV-MTL collectible consisting of a floating robot, that judging by the schematic, will transform into a giant wearable mecha. Each unique item comes in one of 8 types made up of 1050 traits with a predetermined rarity score based on the original owners position in the Dookey Dash game.
Yuga Labs HV MTL NFTs Leave Many Collectors Underwhelmed
Once the dust had settled and the NFT community had time to soak in the latest creation from Yuga Labs, Twitter dwellers took to their keyboards with gusto. Many of which, have criticized what they regard as a lack of effort on the part of the NFT giant, declaring that the team has gotten ‘lazy.’ Essentially, chastising Yuga for what it considers low quality artwork devoid of originality and inspiration. Furthermore, the floor price of the collection seemed to agree with this sentiment, experiencing a sharp drop immediately following the reveal.

Despite all the internet humdrum, the HV-MTL NFTs will play a key part in the next chapter of Yuga Labs gamified odyssey. As such, the items will be a requirement for its as yet unspecified HV-MTL: Forge activation.
