The cryptoverse has gained a global presence. While Twitter remains a favorite among crypto enthusiasts, other social media platforms are also rising in prominence. Notably, TikTok has been a hub for various crypto-related content.
According to a recent study by CoinGecko, the top 15 crypto-related hashtags on TikTok have collectively garnered an impressive 115 billion views. Amid the multitude of hashtags, #crypto has risen as a standout performer. Boasting a remarkable 4 million posts, this hashtag has accumulated an astonishing 30 billion views, solidifying its position as one of the platform’s most widely-viewed hashtags. #Cryptocurrency, however, has comparatively fewer views. The term has still been used on 2 million posts with 10 billion views.
Bitcoin tops crypto TikTok
It looks like the king coin is a favorite among TikTok users. Bitcoin has amassed an impressive 5 million posts that have accumulated a total of 28 billion views through the hashtags #bitcoin and #btc. Ethereum’s presence on the platform was also significant. It consists of a combined 1.81 million posts and 8 billion views under the hashtags #eth and #ethereum. In comparison, Bitcoin enjoys more than double the content and triple the views of Ethereum on TikTok.
Elon Musk’s favorite crypto, Dogecoin, has attracted interest not just on Twitter, but also on TikTok. Dogecoin has gathered a significant 3 billion views across its posted content, with a cumulative count of 0.46 million posts. Additionally, other widely used hashtags encompass Binance, NFT, Metaverse, Defi, and XRP.

Countries that are most inclined towards crypto on TikTok
According to data from Statista, the United States and Indonesia have the highest number of TikTok users. However, European users were dominating the crypto TikTok space. Among the top 15 countries on TikTok that engage with crypto content, a noteworthy 14 are from Europe, out of which 10 are member states of the European Union (EU).
This implied that crypto marketers could effectively tap into the European market by utilizing TikTok, considering the evident enthusiasm for the leading crypto-related hashtags on the platform.
While the surge in interest signifies heightened attention toward the crypto sector, there are certain concerns to be addressed. An April research report revealed that a significant portion of TikTok videos related to crypto, amounting to over 30%, contain misleading information. An analysis conducted by dappGambl on 1,161 videos revealed that more than one in three carried deceptive content. Furthermore, the study highlighted that 47% of creators in the crypto TikTok community were attempting to profit by promoting various services.
