To celebrate the launch of Astar zkEVM, a Polygon-powered Ethereum Layer 2 solution, Astar Network have unveiled “Yoki Origins”, a gamified web3 adventure.
Yoki Origins sees participants collect and evolve Yoki character NFTs, based on Japanese culture and folklore, as they explore the Astar zkEVM ecosystem.
The web3 adventure is backed by some of the biggest names in business and web3 – including CASIO, Japan Airlines, QuickSwap and more – and is now live.

Inspired by the ‘yokai’ spirits of Japanese folklore, and created by a team of talented Japanese illustrators, Yoki Origins sees participants explore the Astar zkEVM ecosystem to collect unique NFTs from a number of enterprises utilising the network.
These enterprises will distribute and sell unique Yoki characters NFTs from customised “Yo-Port” machines, as well as toy capsules on the Yoki Origins website – with First Edition Capsules now available.
Through interacting with projects across the Astar zkEVM ecosystem, players will accumulate Lore points and OMA, an in-game item. These can be used to evolve your Yoki’s, making them truly one-of-a-kind NFTs.

Through evolution, Yoki’s can gain a wide range of utility.
Examples include a premium subscription to DappRadar, and premium access to XO, a web3 dating app, with many more to discover.
On top of those already mentioned, notable companies taking part include the Kyushu Railway Company, CANDY GIRL, Dew and Rarible, to name a few.

This gives players more resources to evolve their Yoki’s, unlocking the possibility to gain more utility at a faster rate.
