Nina Chanel Abney Hand-Curates New CryptoPunks Collection

CryptoPunks recently announced a new 500-piece digital avatar collection, ‘Super Punk World’, hand-curated by the NFT project’s first-ever “PUNK in Residence“, Nina Chanel Abney.

From May 18 to October 5, Abney’s version of the celebrated Punks will be showcased in her art exhibition—‘LIE DOGGO’—at The School | Jack Shainman Gallery in Kinderhook, New York.

The “Super Punks” collection draws inspiration from traits of CryptoPunks and ‘Super Cool World’—the artist’s earlier NFT collection, which includes 5,080 assets with hundreds of attributes highlighting her signature collage-like style.

Details regarding these Punk-themed artworks are limited. However, what is also known is that they will be showcased alongside Abney’s already-existing portfolio, and an auction is in the pipeline.

A Closer Look at the Artist

Born in Harvey, Illinois, and based in New York, Abney is a prominent American artist renowned for her vibrant, graphic paintings that delve into complex social issues.

What sets the artist apart is that she explores themes like race, gender, pop culture, and politics while cleverly merging bright colors and symbolic imagery to blur traditional boundaries.

Her playful yet profound masterpieces have been featured in major exhibitions like ‘30 Americans’, notable solo shows at the Nasher Museum of Art, the animated series South Park, and so on.

Now, she seeks to further engage and provoke both art and NFT lovers worldwide with her soon-debuting limited-edition CryptoPunks collection and the LIE DOGGO exhibition.
